What is Orthodontics?

Straighter teeth not only look better, but they also tend to be healthier for our mouth and systemic health.

Statistically, straight smiles are less prone to issues such as tooth decay, gum disease and TMJ disorders (which lead to grinding and cracking of teeth).

With properly aligned teeth, comes reduced gum disease, which means less health risks to your general and systemic health. Your gums are healthier – so you are more likely to be able to keep your teeth for life.

Straighter teeth are also naturally attractive because of the symmetry created by properly aligned teeth. You will smile more confidently. And confidence is magnetic.

If you have gaps, crowded or misaligned teeth, our comprehensive orthodontics can change that. Conventional Orthodontics with Braces or the Invisible Aligner systems are available to children, teens and adults of all ages.

You’re never too young or too old to enjoy a straighter smile. We offer orthodontics at our clinic, and we are happy to provide you with a complimentary consultation to find out if Orthodontics is going to help you smile.

Traditional Braces

Traditional braces use fixed orthodontic brackets and wires to adjust your smile’s alignment. Although treatment lengths vary, they typically average from 9 months to 18 months or so.

All orthodontic patients need to be seen regularly to make adjustments so ?that their teeth keep moving in the correct direction. These visits can range from weekly to fortnightly to every three weeks.

As your teeth move, your smile will begin to emerge. Once the treatment is over, you will be provided with a solution to hold the teeth in place – either a retainer which you wear at night, or a retainer wire. So that you can keep your new smile for life.

Clear Aligners

Clear Aligners are designed for adults and teens who prefer a discreet, removable orthodontic system. These clear aligners are easy to maintain and simple to wear each day. Simply remove them during meals or to brush and floss. Their gentle pressure moves the teeth as you work, play and sleep, so you need to keep them in for 23 hours a day.

Clear aligner systems work by changing the aligner trays as prescribed. Each set of trays is slightly different than the last, applying specific points of pressure to move your teeth into alignment. The number of aligners, and their design, is arranged by a computerised movement model, which calculates which teeth will move and when – and this is transferred into the aligners – which apply pressure to the move the teeth gently.

Depending on the individual, visits are either weekly, fortnightly or every three weeks depending on your case.

Free Consultations – Oral Hygiene and Braces

It’s important to maintain a good oral hygiene routine when you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment. The wires and brackets can make it harder to brush, and so it’s super important to protect your teeth during treatment.

Our dentist will provide you with tips and tricks to keep your teeth clean. Good brushing and flossing habits are crucial to limiting plaque buildup and enamel demineralization.

We recommend investing in an electric toothbrush, to make brushing more effective. Electric brushes usually have Orthodontic Heads.

If flossing is difficult, you may want to consider using a water flosser like Waterpik or Philips AirFloss and/or interproximal brushes like Piksters.

You will also need to keep some Orthodontic Wax handy. We give you some when you start treatment – and if you run out and need it in an emergency, they keep it at Chemist Warehouse. This will help deal with any spots where you have sensitivity or rubbing, for example from a loose wire, until you can get in to see us.

With a deposit of $750, you can start your journey to a straighter smile. Then we can set up your direct debit on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis, for up to 2 years. There are no credit checks, and no interest, and just a $39 once off set up fee. Denti-Care Payment Plans add a 88c bank transfer fee to each payment. However there is no penalty if you choose to pay off your plan earlier, or make additional payments.

We offer discounts of $500 to $1000 if you decide to pay in full on commencement of your treatment.
