Crowns and Bridges
Do I Need a Crown?
Crowns (caps) are often used for discoloured, misshapen, broken and heavily decayed teeth. They’re also helpful if you have a very large filling where the tooth is cracking, or if you’ve recently completed root canal treatment. Crowns cover, protect and strengthen teeth with significant structural damage.
Fixed Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are multi-tooth restorations that fill in the gap caused by missing teeth. They’re supported on either end by a healthy tooth. The prep and placement process is identical to getting a crown. Bridges can also be suspended on top of dental implants.
What to Expect
Each of our crowns and bridges is crafted for optimal durability and appearance. The treatment process typically requires two visits, with the first requiring an hour to an hour and a half to prepare your tooth. We’ll be sure to numb your tooth/teeth so that you don’t have to feel anything. In the meantime, you can listen to music or watch something on the television.
Two weeks later, you’ll return for us to seat the crown or bridge into place. At that point, you can eat and smile confidently again.
How Long Do They Last?
The Dental Association of Australia suggests that most crowns and bridges have an average lifespan of at least 10 years when maintained properly. Fortunately, most of our patients can keep theirs for much longer, if not for life.
Payment Plans Available
In addition to accepting private health insurance, our practice offers flexible financing options on most treatments. That way you can access care straight away without having to worry about the bill.
